Roby Cantafio was born in Italy but spent his childhood and adolescence around the world, living for long periods of his life in Bahamas, Germany, Iran and Algeria, experiences that will profoundly affect his artistic temperament, impetuous and full of nuances.
His passion for music, started since he was very young, led him to compare with different musical instruments, but the electric guitar becomes well soon his faithful life companion, thanks to which he develops a great one passion for Rock and Blues and for artists like Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and KISS.
His favorite guitarists include Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, David Gilmour and Eric Clapton.
He is also initially interested in jazz, but then wins the love for rock and roll.
The encounter with the teacher Licchelli of Melegnano at the Stajano Music Academy, conducted by Master Rebecchi, is crucial in his approach to the instrument. Roby joins his first band in the province of Milan at the age of 12, playing great international and Italian successes.
In the coming years he collaborates, also writing different songs, with various bands including the NED, reaching a good success with the public and critics, so much to be contacted by the RCA record company and participate in the finals of Castrocaro Terme Festival with a song entitled DONNA MUSICA and having a good success.
Subsequently, in another edition of Castrocaro Terme, he plays with the singer MIKAELA a song written by Pino D’Angiò.
Other important collaborations are with the singer “Sharon” for a European tour, and with the “Bands in Italy” as result of the meeting with the producers Gegeʼ Reitano and Sergio Grandi for the “Fremus Record” label.
After countless musical contributions with different artists, he decides to try his hand in his solo path as a singer-songwriter and he reaches his first record “FUORI E DENTRO DI ME”, released on 19 October 2018 preceded by the single and video “IL MONDO CHE TREMA”, produced by Ettore Diliberto.
On the record there is a special collaboration: that of one of the greatest rock guitars of Italian music, Ricky Portera, founder of the Stadio and guitarist of Lucio Dalla, who played in the songs “IL MONDO CHE TREMA” and “SENTO IL CUORE CHE BATTTE”.
In 2018, during the final of SANREMO ROCK, he was awarded as the most popular artist followed in Sanremo Rock website and social media.
In 2019 he is involved in the preparation of a new album and in several collaborations, including partecipation in touring concert called “Gordini and Friends”, organized by the tenor Rodolfo Maria Gordini.
